The Porsche 962 was a highly successful endurance prototype sports car designed by Norbert Singer. Introduced in 1984 as an evolution of the previous 956, the 962 complied with both GTP and Group C regulations. Powered by a 2.6L Type 935/76 flat-6 with one or two Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch turbochargers, the 962s were highly competitive in whatever races they entered, usually taking the win or at least a podium position. The 962s were so competitive that they were still winning races ten years after it was introduced, at which point numerous other cars had long obsoleted them; Team Taisan had the honors of taking the last ever competitive victory in a 962 in the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (now known as Super GT) in 1994. 91 chassis were produced in-house by Porsche, with additional being produced by other privateers such as Joest or Kremer.
